String-Potentiometer Station A major EOT activity held during Quake Summit 2011, was the Student Mentoring Session and Workshop on instrumentation, calibration and testing organized and hosted by the UB-NEES site. The workshop, held during the afternoon of Thursday June 9th , attracted approximately 56 domestic and international students that were accompanied by many of the NEES site PI’s and NSF’s Dr. Joy Pauschke. The mentoring session consisted of 5-stations that provided tutorials and brief demonstrations associated with the use, application and calibration of strain gages, accelerometers, string-pot displacement transducers, the very unique KRYPTON 3D Measurement Displacement system and a tour and presentation on test operations in the UB-NEES control room. This included a special tutorial on Real Time Dynamic Hybrid Testing (RTDHT). The session concluded with a Shake Table test demonstration and final question and answer period. |
